Hi there! My name is Andrew Schmidt, and I am passionate about living a minimalist lifestyle that is healthy and balanced. I am excited to share my experiences and knowledge about RV travel on my website, TheRoadTripster. Whether you’re a seasoned RV enthusiast or just starting out, you’ll find gear reviews, trip planning tips, and much more on my site.
Past
Full-time web designer/Document management system admin in Information Technology. Working in beautiful downtown Philadelphia, PA. Avid traveler: 5 Continents, 33 Countries, 48 States. I made it into almost all of the lower 48′s except Oregon and some of the New England states.
Currently
Full-time RV’er and freelance web designer. I want to continue to travel, seeing all of those places that I had to pass by, racing around America on business trips. My dream is to live in some type of RV along with a car to run around to all those sights I still want to see. Other Interests: Photography, cycling, sailing, outdoors, hiking, reading, writing, gadgets, cooking, and dining out.
I own a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser to do lots of road trips and exploring. Other than the gas mileage, the FJ series Cruiser is such a great platform for road tripping. It is stealth, it goes everywhere with its 4×4 drive and differential lockers, it is very dependable, and comfortably sleeps 2 in the back. If I were a little less spoilt, I would have chosen this vehicle for the indefinite road trip – but I need just a few more creature comforts for the long haul. I’m going to write a lot more about vehicle considerations in future posts.
